At Connecticut Addiction Medicine, LLC., we treat all patients with the problem of drug addiction and their associated behavioral health problems. All forms of substance abuse are managed, with special emphasis on opioid dependence and alcoholism.
The treatment team consists of experienced clinicians including an addiction psychiatrist, addiction medicine physicians, a psychiatric nurse practioner, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and licensed professional counselors.
All the patients are followed individually, and all participate in weekly relapse prevention groups. On-site comprehensive urine toxicology testing is utilized to monitor compliance.
The pharmacotherapy component of the program emphasizes Suboxone for opioid dependence and Vivitrol for both opioid dependence and alcoholism.
Regarding pain management, studies have consistently demonstrated that Suboxone is an effective therapy for chronic pain of many origins. Patients are usually able to wean off opioids and be managed with oral Suboxone. The level of pain control is as good, or better, than that achieved by opioids, and the risks of chronic opioid use are avoided. At the prescriber's discretion, other nonaddictive medicines are commonly added to Suboxone to maximize the pain relief effect. Additionally, these patients often benefit from group therapy, and they are often followed conjointly with pain management centers in the greater Hartford area.
We are accepting new patients and participate with all major insurances, including Medicaid and Medicare.
