I'm Dr. Joule O'Connor and I am a "DO" - a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, who graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991. I am board certified in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and am currently seeking board certification through the AOA Clinical Pathway in Addiction Medicine when available, to best accomplish the goals at hand.
There are different modalities including medications that we utilize in the world of medicine to help accomplish these goals and sometimes the use of these medications can lead to physiologic dependence on them - in other words, "addiction." So, after years of witnessing the devastation that pain and the treatment of pain has led to for so many people, I am now focusing my career, training and experience treating those with the addiction and substance use disorders they have whether acquired because of their pain and related problems or that developed for other reasons.
And if this is the reason you've come to this website, if you come to any of our practice locations for care we can and will DO this together using the essentials of evidence-based medicine and the latest treatment options in Opioid and Substance Use Disorders. And if you see me, I will also combine the fundamental practices and principles of both allopathic and osteopathic medicine including OMT if deemed applicable for you. Ask me about OMT when you come in!
